Surlingham Play Area

Tender September 2026

Following the public consultation in April 2026 to gather views on the condition and future development of Surlingham Play Area. The consultation was promoted through multiple village channels and received responses from 21 households, plus two child‑friendly questionnaires via Surlingham School.

Although participation was modest, the feedback provides clear and consistent direction for refurbishment priorities. The findings highlight concerns around safety, accessibility, equipment suitability, and the overall quality of the play environment.

Surlingham Parish Council has launched a tender, on Contracts Finder, inviting suppliers to submit proposals for the refurbishment of Surlingham Play Area. The aim is to deliver a safe, inclusive, imaginative and environmentally sensitive play space that reflects the priorities identified through the consultation.

Consultation April 2026

**The consultation has now closed**

The consultation will run from 1 April to 30 April 2026, and we’re inviting all residents to share their views on the designs, equipment options, and overall layout.

Your feedback will directly influence the final proposals, so we encourage everyone—especially families and regular users of the play area—to take part.

Why are we consulting?

The village play area is now almost 20 years old, and several pieces of equipment have reached the end of their safe and usable life. The tractor has been condemned and will be removed shortly, creating an opportunity to install new, modern equipment in its place. The multi‑play unit is also showing significant wear, and the Parish Council would like residents’ views on whether it should be repaired or replaced.

There is also space within the play area to introduce additional equipment. We’d love to hear your ideas and preferences so we can shape a play space that reflects what the community wants.
